Mjaft! Movement & “Mercator”, humanitarian aid for the flooded population in Shkodra (Scutary).

Mjaft!Movement in cooperation with “Mercator” hyper market distributed this afternoon on the flooded area in Scutary(Shkoder)  food, milk, refreshments and dresses. It is spoken about 4 pallets (the standard unit of goods transport by trucks) packaged foods and conserved food(tinned and canned), as well as 2 pallets with dresses.  

The aid was supplied by the “Mercator” hyper market, by activists and volunteers of Mjaft! movement as well as Tirana citizens, who showed themselves willing to solidarise with the needs of the citizens struck by the calamity.

The supplied aid were distributed at Rrenze, at  scutary(Shkoder) suburbs at the floode quarter called Ajasem. The largest part of the aid were distributed at the (former) military barracks at Rrenze, where were sheltered 58 Rom families, around 250 people as well as 16 families in difficulty at the Ajasem quarter around 60 persons. 

A particular priority were given to Rom families sheltered at military barracks because except the food ensured by “Caritas” they have not taken any other assistance since their displacement.MJAFT! Movement choose to concentrate the aid right at the military barracks in Rrenze where Albanian Rom families also to convey the message that this is a calamity and struck all the people the same way. That’s why the disaster treatment and aid that were given to struck population must be equally distributed and not on discriminated basis.

With this commitment, Mjaft! movement is become a part of Albanian solidarity community —business part, various organizations as well as simple citizens – who has shared together these days the calamity which has struck their fellow countrymen. But, while the whole Albania keeps the eyes and hearts in this region and is trying hard to help as much a sit can, we have been the witness of another misfortune which is neither natural nor temporary. This misfortune which goe safter this people, leader after leader, government after government and decade after decade, which the Albanian people not only suffer from, but is asked to vote. It is our common misfortune of the same political chair, where is changed simply the guilty.      

Mjaft! Movement expressed its conviction that today is not the time to spread out in search of the guilty person, but to unite in search of a solution. That’s why the current day must be a day of reflection and maturity that in moments like this political egoism should be left aside, in order to be served to these people of this country.

 Through this initiative, Mjaft! Movements aims not only the contribution and aid given on terrain, but also the continuation of contribution of making the citizens aware for this issue.
