Victims’ families members: If we do not take an official reply to our addressed request upon the citizen Fatmir Mediu, we will bring the public prosecutor to trial.

The statement of the head of the Victims’ Families Members of Gerdeci Tragedy Association Mr. Feruzan Durda :

We, the victims’ families members of Gerdeci explosion, on behalf of our association, after the admission of our suit at law on the tragedy injured persons from the High Court of Justice, we have addressed the attorney general office, since November 2009, with the request to sue Fatmir Ali Mediu. We asked the attorney general office to carry out all the necessary actions  to sue the person who bears the blame for the explosion. We have also requested that General Attorney office ask for the authorization for penal indictment, so that the Parliament had the right to vote, which will enable later on to bring Fatmir Ali  Mediu up for trial.

We have asked the General Attorney office, in the following days, to inform us on the above-mentioned request. Taking into consideration, that the official deadline of the legal obligation to reply to official requests has already expired, we do request to the General Prosecutor’s office to give us  an answer whether or not is given the required authorization for the above mentioned actions.   

We can not realize the delay and silence of this institution towards such a tragic event. It is an obligation (if not an honor) of this institution to undertake the actions ,to bring anybody up for  trial with or without immunity, when this is the constitutional function of this (crucial state ) organ.   

As the legal deadline for an official answer from the General Prosecution office has already expired we are preparing the relevant steps to request this right of ours, through judiciary system.
Whether the General Prosecution Institution does not ensure very quickly giving of a reply, a trial case between injured party and the prosecutor organ will be inevitable.
