MJAFT! protests against the racist calls of greek army
“The Mjaft Movement expresses its shock and concern with regard to the racist calls that the Greek army launched towards the Albanian citizens in an official military parade taking place in Athens on 25 March 2010.Xenophobic and deeply offensive songs of the Hellenic military forces, were a clear evidence of an extreme racism that manifests itself, not only among individuals and groups of the Greek society, but also in organized stuctures at the institutional level.
The “Mjaft” movement clearly and firmly expresses its position, that such xenophobic songs, don’t serve to the friendship and cooperation between neighbors. Insult and denigration statements of an E.U. member country towards its neighbouring countries Albania, Macedonia and Turkey can only cultivate hater causing thus instability in the region, and consquently jeopardising the EU integration standards. A NATO member military force adressing its allies with such macabre threats, is simply unprecedented and scandalous.
In this serious moment, we should’t be happy with selective dissmissal of military officials, or with formal statements at Ambassador level. It is necessary that highest authorities of the neighboring state to speak clearly on this issue, by punishing culprits, acording to the laws.
Consequently, the highest institutions of Greece government, have to show high reeadinees for cooperation and ability to prevent repetition of such humiliating acts, already returned to routine.
In addition to that, Albanian government is also responsibile for its apathy and traditional servility to protect country interests and tolerates the humiliation of national dignity and the rights of Albanian citizens. We strongly appeal to our government to play its role in guaranteeing the rights of Albanians in and abroad and represent Albania with dignity in bilateral relations.
